What role can the resin perform?
The hydrocarbon resin may be included in the modified alkyd binder. In the synthesis of alkyd resin, oil participates in chemical transformations: reducing its share requires recalculation of the composition and balance of reagents. When mixing NPS with finished alkyd resin, the ratio of components and solvents is selected.
Changing raw material may affect non-volatile content, viscosity, levelling, drying rate, gloss and hardness. Compare material balance and performance, not only price per kilogram.

Initial grade selection
For medium-stained industrial systems, primary screening often includes Piroplast-2K 10–30. For darker enamels, primers and drying oils, 30-60 can be considered. SPS 5/9 is evaluated separately for special protective systems.
This is not a ready-made addition recommendation. The final list depends on actual batch colour, softening point, alkyd resin and solvent system.
White and transparent materials require a particularly rigorous colour assessment.
The characteristic odour is checked in the finished coating and after drying.
A ready-made resin solution eliminates solid-resin dissolution; match its resin base and solvent to the formulation.
Compatibility and preparation procedure
Begin screening with a small batch using the normal loading sequence. Check clarity or uniformity, absence of precipitation, viscosity and stability after conditioning. Record temperature and time.
If adding a candidate requires changing the solvent or non-volatile content, the result cannot be attributed to the resin alone. Treat this option as a separate formulation.

What to measure in a finished film
The minimum programme covers specified drying stages, gloss, hardness, adhesion and elasticity. Add hiding power, impact, water, oil, chemical or weather resistance as required.
Samples are applied with the same thickness on the same prepared base and kept under the same conditions. Otherwise, the differences cannot be interpreted.

From laboratory to production
Select the best trial against predefined acceptance criteria, not a single metric. Repeat it in a fresh laboratory batch, then run pilot production with temperature, time and filtration controls.
For purchasing, define batch CoA requirements and incoming inspection. If a batch differs from the tested batch, the technologist must assess the risk before production use.
Save the reference sample and protocol.
Agree acceptable property tolerances.
Do not start a production batch based only on the catalogue description.

Is it possible to partially replace vegetable oil?
This depends on the function of the oil and the stage of resin addition. During the synthesis of alkyd resin, the composition and balance of reagents are recalculated. When modifying the finished binder, the compatibility, drying and properties of the film are checked; recalculating non-volatile content alone is not enough.
Which resin is suitable for alkyd enamel?
The initial list depends on the allowed colour. Often start with a 10–30 or 30-60 Piroplast and the CoA for an available batch.
Is the product suitable for white enamel?
Only if the actual colour of the batch and its dosage do not violate the requirements for finished enamel; for very light systems, resin may not be suitable.
Will the drying time change?
It could change. It is measured on control and trial formulations with the same application and exposure.
Should I change the solvent?
Not necessarily. First, check the current system. If the solvent changes, the variant is considered a new formulation.
