About the product
Paints and coatings for railway vehicles
AKRYL offers a ready-to-use epoxy primer, polyurethane primer surfacer, enamel and clearcoat. They are applied in sequence as a protective and decorative coating system.
Each material is supplied as a two-component product: the base and hardener are mixed before application. Surface preparation, material combinations and drying conditions are determined by the technical specifications and project requirements.
The system was developed for exterior surfaces of passenger carriages, locomotives and multiple-unit rolling stock. Suitability for other vehicles and metal structures is assessed for each project.

Coating system for passenger carriages and locomotives
The sequence below shows the four materials in VNIIZhT JSC Conclusion No. 4381: epoxy primer, polyurethane primer surfacer, enamel and clearcoat. The application procedure determines the actual number of coats and each material's thickness.

Testing
Testing of the railway vehicle coating system
VNIIZhT JSC issued Conclusion No. 4381 for a specific four-material system for exterior metal surfaces.
For the system with a total thickness of 160-205 µm, the conclusion states the expected retention of protective properties under the tested conditions.

The figures apply to the system composition, GOST 9.401-2018 method and service conditions specified in the conclusion. These periods are derived from accelerated weathering tests and are not a warranty for every project.

This primer-enamel is described in the AKRYL presentation as a standalone product. It is not part of the tested four-material 2K system and does not inherit the service-life figures in VNIIZhT Conclusion No. 4381.

These are ready-to-use paints and coatings for metal. Each 2K material consists of a base and a hardener, mixed before application.
Can the materials be purchased separately?
Yes. You can request the complete system or an individual primer, primer surfacer, enamel or clearcoat. Compatibility with other materials must be checked separately.
Which layers make up the tested system?
The VNIIZhT conclusion evaluates a system comprising epoxy primer, polyurethane primer surfacer, enamel and clearcoat. The one-component primer-enamel is considered separately.
What is the thickness of the tested coating?
The documentation for the tested four-layer system gives a total thickness of 160-205 µm. For a different project, the thickness and application procedure are agreed separately.
Can one component be replaced with another brand?
The test results apply to the specified system. If a component is replaced, compatibility and the new system's properties must be checked separately.
