About the material

The initial layer in the coating system

Component A contains pigments, fillers and additives in an epoxy resin. Component B is an amine-type hardener. The material is intended for priming exterior body surfaces of passenger carriages, locomotives and multiple-unit rolling stock.

Material selection and the application process depend on the substrate, previous coats and service conditions. Request the current TU specification and instructions before use.

Purpose

Where the material is used

The list is based on the AKRYL presentation. Suitability for a specific project is confirmed through technical selection.

Railway vehicles

Exterior surfaces of passenger carriages, locomotives and multiple-unit rolling stock.

Other vehicles and equipment

Cars, urban transport, agricultural and road machinery, using an agreed application procedure.

Metal structures

Carbon, stainless and galvanised steel, aluminium and other metals with suitable preparation.

Preparation

What to check before application

Prepare the substrate

The surface must be clean and dry. Check the cleaning procedure and acceptable metal condition against the current TU specification.

Mix the components

Mix the base and hardener immediately before application at the specified mass ratio.

Check the system

Confirm thickness, intercoat drying and compatibility with subsequent materials using the project's application procedure.

Component BAKRYL 2K EP Hardener, TU 20.59.59-061-49740748-2025
Mixture preparationStir the base and hardener separately first. After mixing, allow 10-15 minutes before application.
ApplicationAir or airless spray; two coats with a total dry film thickness of 40-55 µm.
ConditionsFrom +10 °C; relative humidity no more than 80 %; surface temperature at least 3 °C above the dew point.
Intercoat drying4 h; check the conditions for the specific project against the application instructions.
ThinnerAgree the thinner grade with the technologist using the current instructions. Do not replace an EP thinner with a PU thinner without confirming compatibility.

This information is taken from the manufacturer's materials and does not replace the current application instructions. Request them for the selected material and project before application.

Theoretical consumption is given for the specified coating thickness. Actual consumption depends on application methods and conditions, roughness, object geometry and process losses.

Questions

What to clarify before ordering

Is this a ready-to-use primer or a raw material for paint production?

It is a ready-to-use two-component coating. Mix the base with the hardener before application.

Can it be purchased separately from the system?

Yes, you can request the material separately. Compatibility with a different coating system must be checked separately.

What is the service life of the primer on its own?

The periods in the VNIIZhT conclusion apply to the tested four-material system. They are not attributed to the primer on its own.

How should the metal surface be prepared?

Remove dust, oil, grease and poorly adhering coatings. The presentation specifies abrasive blast cleaning or mechanical treatment to the required cleanliness level; check the exact procedure against the TU specification.

At what temperature can the primer be applied?

The instructions in the presentation specify at least +10 °C, relative humidity no more than 80 %, and metal temperature at least 3 °C above the dew point.

How is the primer applied?

Airless and air spray are listed. Select the method and working viscosity using the project instructions.

When can the next coat be applied?

The presentation specifies 4 h of intercoat drying. Confirm the conditions for the specific system and application using the application instructions.
